The story of Bagong Bayan Elementary School is deeply intertwined with the growth of the community it serves. What began as a modest educational initiative has blossomed into a cornerstone institution for the Bagong Bayan community in San Pablo City.
Before World War II, settlers from San Pablo found it practical to live near their workplaces. They settled along tracks owned by the Azores family. After the war, the community grew into what became known as Bagumbayan.
Community leaders requested a first-grade teacher. Bb. Juana Punzalan opened classes with 42 students. Initially a branch of San Pablo Elementary School.
After four years as a branch, Bagong Bayan became an independent Primary School under Principal G. Gertrudo Punto.
With help from the PTA, barangay council, and Senator Gil Puyat, the school acquired its own land. Gonzales-type classrooms were built.
The first sixth-grade cohort of 28 students graduated under Principal Gng. Felicitacion F. Lacsam.
A donation from the Azores family expanded the school grounds to 4,900 m².
Additional structures were added over the decades: DECS building, Bagong Lipunan hall, two-story Congressional buildings, and a covered court.
In October 2014, the AGAPP Foundation donated a two-classroom building to accommodate growing enrollment.
Construction began on a new four-story DepEd building with 16 classrooms to serve the growing student population.
Today, Bagong Bayan Elementary School serves over 800 students with a dedicated teaching staff of 30 educators.
For over 75 years, Bagong Bayan Elementary School has evolved alongside its community. The school continues its mission of providing quality education to the children of Bagong Bayan.

The Department of Education was established through the Education Decree of 1863 as the Superior Commission of Primary Instruction... The present-day DepEd was mandated through Republic Act 9155 (Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001).
DepEd formulates, implements, and coordinates policies, plans, programs, and projects in both formal and non-formal basic education... ensuring a complete, adequate, and integrated basic education system relevant to national development.
As part of the DepEd system, Bagong Bayan Elementary School is committed to upholding this mandate by providing quality education that prepares students for their future while instilling values of citizenship and social responsibility.
